The best AEO tools are Omnipresence if you want to know which page to fix so the AI picks you, AI Rank Lab and Scrunch if you want the optimisation built into the platform, Goodie if you want a human strategist in the loop, SE Ranking and Ahrefs if you already pay for an SEO suite, and Profound, AthenaHQ, Peec AI and Otterly.AI to track share of voice. They differ on whether they score your page for the passage an engine lifts, what they show you behind an answer, which engines they cover, and price.
Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is the narrower half of this work: making your page the answer an engine lifts and cites. An AI search visibility platform shows whether the engines your buyers ask recommend you or a competitor, and AEO is the work of getting your page picked as that answer. So this list weights the tools that score and fix that answer content, where the best generative engine optimisation (GEO) tools weight the broader engine picture.
Six tools show up on both lists because the buyer shortlist overlaps, but the question here is narrower. Prices and engine lists are what each vendor showed on its pricing page on 13 October 2026.

AEO tools that score and fix your answer content
Four tools on this list read your page and point you at the passage to change, or do the change for you. They’re the ones the AEO job is built around.
Omnipresence
Best for: knowing which page to fix so the AI picks you
Omnipresence shows whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity recommend you or a competitor for the questions your buyers ask, then scores your own pages against the searches each assistant ran, so you know which passage to change. It hands the target and the method to the agent your team already uses over Model Context Protocol (MCP), which rewrites the page and logs what changed and when. On Pro and up it reads your pages and tells you whether the answer chunk clears what retrievers measure, and what to change.
Plans start at $19 a month on Starter, $69 on Pro and $239 on Agency, billed annually, with Enterprise custom, and there’s a 7-day trial on Pro with no card.
Pros
- Scores your page for the passage an engine lifts and says what to change
- Separates a recommendation from a passing mention, so you see which sends a buyer
- No cap on tracked questions, and the fix runs in the agent you already use
- Proof the lift was your work, with control prompts left untouched
Cons
- Four assistants only, no AI Overviews, AI Mode, Copilot or Grok tracking yet
- You bring your own OpenRouter or OpenAI key and pay the model cost at list price
- Top-choice data is partial
- Retrieval scoring is Pro and up
AI Rank Lab
Best for: all-in-one AEO with its own agent and a free tier
AI Rank Lab is an all-in-one SEO, AEO and GEO platform with a free tier of 100 credits and no card, so you can poke at it before you pay. Starter is $69 a month, Professional $149 and Enterprise $499, and annual saves about 20%, per its pricing page. It checks brand visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, and it ships a built-in AI agent in beta plus a public MCP server for Cursor or Claude Desktop.
Pros
- Free tier with 100 credits, no card
- An agent and an MCP server built in, so the platform does some of the work
- Four chat assistants covered
Cons
- The built-in agent is the vendor’s own beta, not your team’s agent running a documented playbook
- Checks are credit-based, so tracking burns the allowance
- It’s an all-in-one platform rather than a focused AEO tool
Scrunch
Best for: enterprise content optimisation across many engines
Scrunch is built for brands optimising content across many engines at once. Starter is $250 a month billed annually, Growth $417 and Enterprise custom, per its pricing page. It covers eight engines, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Meta AI and Copilot, with Grok listed as coming soon, per its FAQs page, and its Agent Experience Platform creates AI-native content variants.
Pros
- Eight engines, the widest named list in this group
- An Agent Experience Platform that creates content variants
- Enterprise-grade coverage including Meta AI and Copilot
Cons
- Entry price is high next to focused trackers
- Grok isn’t available yet
- It’s priced for larger teams
Goodie
Best for: a human AEO strategist in the plan
Goodie pairs a human AEO strategist with the software. Core is $399 a month, Pro $999 and Enterprise custom, per its pricing page. Core covers five models, ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and Copilot, with 120 prompts and five seats, and Enterprise scales to up to 13 models, adding Gemini, Claude, Meta AI, DeepSeek, Grok, Alexa and Sparky.
Pros
- A human strategist included on Core and up
- Up to 13 models on Enterprise, the widest model list here
- A 7-day trial
Cons
- The most expensive entry on this list
- The strategist is plan-gated
- Smaller teams may not need the breadth
AEO trackers for share of voice
Four AEO trackers measure your share of voice. The honest catch is that a score alone doesn’t tell you what to change, which is why they sit below the tools that score and fix your page.
Profound
Best for: enterprise share of voice already in procurement
Profound is the enterprise end of this market, built for brands tracking AI search across many markets. It doesn’t publish standard pricing, and the entry is a free 7-day trial that runs 50 prompts a day on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, per its pricing page. Enterprise opens the engine list to up to 9 answer engines.
Pros
- Up to 9 engines on Enterprise, the widest named list here
- Free 7-day trial with no card, before the sales call
- Built for multi-market, multi-language enterprise tracking
Cons
- No published pricing, so you’re into a sales call for a number
- The trial only covers three engines, so you don’t see the full list before you buy
- It’s built to measure share of voice, not to score your page for the passage to lift
AthenaHQ
Best for: covering many models early
AthenaHQ covers a wide model list at a low entry. There’s a free plan with 300 credits, and Starter is $295 a month with 3,600 credits and 11+ models, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot, AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral, per its pricing page. It includes an Action Center for suggested next steps, and annual billing saves 17%.
Pros
- 11+ models on the paid plan, plus a free plan
- An Action Center for suggested next steps
- Annual billing saves 17%
Cons
- Credit-based, so frequent tracking burns the allowance
- Enterprise features need the custom plan
- It measures, it doesn’t score or fix your answer content
Peec AI
Best for: focused daily tracking without a sales call
Peec AI is a focused tracker for teams that want daily numbers without a sales call. It doesn’t publish standard pricing on its pricing page. It tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini with an AI Mode tracker, and gives role-based per-project permissions.
Pros
- Daily tracking without a sales call
- Per-project permissions, useful for agencies
- A published engine list
Cons
- Doesn’t publish standard pricing
- Fewer engines than the credit-based trackers
- It tracks, it doesn’t score or fix your answer content
Otterly.AI
Best for: a cheap first test
Otterly.AI is the cheap, published-price way in. Lite is $29 a month, $25 billed annually, per its pricing page, with no sales call. It tracks four engines on Lite, ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini as paid add-ons, and 15 prompts a month.
Pros
- Published price, no sales call
- Four engines on every plan
- A low entry for a first test
Cons
- 15 prompts a month on Lite is a small sample
- Claude, Gemini and AI Mode are paid add-ons
- It tracks, it doesn’t fix your answer content
AEO tools inside SEO suites
Two AEO tools live inside a broader SEO platform, so they suit teams already paying for the suite.
SE Ranking (AEO Checker)
Best for: AEO checks inside an SEO platform you may already use
SE Ranking’s AEO Checker lives inside the SE Ranking platform, so if you already pay for the suite there’s nothing new to buy. It currently analyses visibility across Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT, with AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude coming soon, per its FAQ. The platform starts at $129 a month on Core, billed annually, per its subscription page, with a 14-day free trial.
Pros
- No new tool if you’re already on SE Ranking
- 14-day free trial
- Sits alongside the SEO work you already run there
Cons
- Currently only AI Overviews and ChatGPT, the rest are coming soon
- The AEO Checker isn’t priced on its own, it’s bundled into the broader subscription
- You pay for the whole platform to get it
Ahrefs Brand Radar
Best for: researching competitor AI citations
Ahrefs Brand Radar is the AI-citation research layer inside Ahrefs, for teams already on the suite. The USD price starts at $199 a month, per its pricing page.
The dedicated Brand Radar page prices in euros, which we don’t quote. It tracks AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude.
Pros
- Seven engines including AI Overviews and AI Mode
- Competitor citation research inside a suite you may already use
- A USD starting price
Cons
- The cheapest custom-prompt tier is priced in euros with no USD figure
- Claude checks consume 8 checks per update, so the allowance goes faster
- It researches citations, it doesn’t score or fix your answer content
How to choose an AEO tool
Start with the engines your buyers actually use. If your buyers are B2B, the four chat assistants, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, cover most of it.
If they’re consumer, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode matter too. A tool that tracks engines your buyers never ask is spending your budget on the wrong number.
Then ask whether it scores your page or only your visibility. The AEO-specific question is whether the tool reads your page and tells you which passage an engine will lift and what to change. A tracker hands you a score, and an AEO tool hands you the page to fix.
Most tools on this list stop at the score.
Check the sample behind the rate. A share of voice from one answer is basically a coin flip, so ask how many times each question is asked and whether the rate comes with a confidence band. A number that swings on one answer won’t survive a CMO review.
Ask whether it separates a recommendation from a passing mention, because only one of them sends you a buyer. And look at what you see behind the answer, the searches the assistant ran and the pages it read, because those are what you actually work.
In our 10x AI Visibility Refresh study, refreshing 98 pages and publishing nothing lifted citations 10x in 91 days, and 41 cited pages had no Google impressions, so Google rank and AI citation barely line up. The page is the lever, not the score (10x AI Visibility Refresh). In The Credibility Layer study, 200 reasoning sessions ran 5,933 searches and produced 1,982 citations, and every recommendation came from a 30-search credibility audit, so the searches behind the answer decide it (The Credibility Layer).
You can score a few pages by hand for the passage an engine will lift. Past a handful, Omnipresence runs the retrieval readiness audit across your pages and says what to change, which is the extractability half this post is about.
FAQ
What is an AEO tool?
An AEO tool measures and improves how your brand shows up when a buyer asks an AI assistant. The measuring half tracks whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity recommend you. The improving half scores your page for the passage an engine lifts and tells you what to change.
Are AEO tools and AEO trackers the same thing?
Not always. A tracker measures your share of voice, and an AEO tool can also optimise by scoring your answer content and pointing you at the page to fix. Some tools do both, and the cheaper ones tend to track only.
How many answer engines should an AEO tool cover?
The engines your buyers use. For most B2B, the four chat assistants cover it.
For consumer markets, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode matter too. Paying for engines your buyers never ask is budget spent on the wrong number.
Do AEO tools work for AI Overviews?
Some do. Most track the chat assistants first, and AI Overviews coverage varies and is still currently limited on some tools. If AI Overviews is your priority, check the engine list before you buy, because it’s still moving.
