The best AI Overviews tracker depends on what you want to see inside the AI answer. SE Ranking shows your position and the sources Google cites inside a full SEO suite, Promptrush and RanksPro cover AI Overviews alongside the chat assistants on a budget, and Seobility shows you the full answer text and the exact order of its sources. Omnipresence is the honest exception here: an AI search visibility platform for the four chat assistants rather than Google AI Overviews.
Prices and engine lists are what each vendor’s pricing page showed on 14 October 2026. The list is judged on five things: that the tool actually tracks Google AI Overviews; what you see inside the AI answer, from a bare mention count to the full text and source order; the sample and how often it checks; whether it separates a citation from a passing mention; and who does the work after the measurement.
How to track AI Overviews
You can’t measure AI Overviews with one search. They appear for some queries and not others, they vary by location, and they change between observations, so a single check tells you almost nothing about a rate. The practical answer is the same queries checked repeatedly, and there are three ways to do that.
Manual spot-checks are the starting point: search your keywords in Google, incognito and logged out, and note whether an AI Overview appears and whether your site is cited. The limit is the volatility: Ahrefs reports, from its Brand Radar data, that an AI Overview has roughly a 70% chance of changing between observations, with content lasting about 2.15 days, so one check is just a snapshot.
Google Search Console now has a Generative AI performance report, rolled out to all sites on 31 August 2026, covering AI Overviews and AI Mode. It shows impressions only, how many times a link to your site appeared, grouped by page, country, date and device. It does not show clicks, position, or which pages were cited, so it won’t give you a citation rate.
GA4 has no native AI Overviews report. You can infer that traffic changed, but you can’t see citations, and you can’t tie a visit cleanly to an AI Overview source.
Past a handful of queries, doing this by hand stops scaling. You need the same queries checked on a schedule, plus the cited sources and competitors, which is what a dedicated tracker does.

Dedicated AI Overviews trackers for most teams
These five are the best AI Overviews trackers for most teams to shortlist first, from a full SEO suite down to a cheap published-price first test.
SE Ranking
Best for: full AI Overviews tracking inside an SEO suite
SE Ranking built a dedicated AI Overviews Tracker inside its AI Search Toolkit, and it’s one of the most complete pictures you get of what happens inside an AI Overview. You see whether an AI Overview appears for a keyword, your position inside it day by day, and the domains and individual URLs Google cites as sources, with those sources categorised as media, blogs or forums. It also keeps cached SERP copies so you can see what changed, and it estimates traffic from AI Overviews.
The catch is the structure. The AI Overviews Tracker is currently an add-on from $71.20 a month on top of a base SEO suite plan that starts at $103.20 a month, billed annually, so the real entry cost is both, though there’s a free trial with no card.
Pros
- Your position inside the AI Overview, the cited sources and traffic estimation in one tracker
- Cached SERP copies so you can see what changed between runs
- Side-by-side classic and AI snippet rankings, plus separate trackers for ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Mode
Cons
- AI Overviews tracking is an add-on on top of a full SEO suite, so you pay base plan plus add-on
- The other engines are sold as separate trackers, not one view
RanksPro
Best for: AI Overviews plus LLM share of voice on a budget
RanksPro is a newer dedicated tracker that puts Google AI Overviews next to per-platform share of voice across the chat assistants. For AI Overviews you see whether your and competitors’ content appears, the exact sources Google cites, and where you’re losing visibility, and it layers prompt research on top so you can spot the conversational queries that trigger AI Overviews. It also tracks ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini by platform.
There’s a free tier for general rank tracking, and the AI Overview Tracker comes on the paid plans, which start at $49.17 a month billed annually for 100 tracked keywords, on its pricing page.
Pros
- Dedicated AI Overviews tracker with cited sources and per-platform LLM share of voice
- A free tier, and prompt research for the queries that trigger AI Overviews
- Daily SERP rank tracking across 150+ countries, desktop and mobile
Cons
- The AI Overview Tracker is on the paid plans, not the free tier, with a keyword cap per plan
- A smaller, newer tool than the established suites
Promptrush
Best for: affordable AI Overviews and AI Mode tracking
Promptrush is the budget pick if you want AI Overviews and AI Mode without an add-on. Currently every plan covers five engines as standard, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, and Anthropic Claude is a paid add-on. For AI Overviews you see brand mentions in the summaries, the domains and URLs Google cites, competitor presence, and which queries trigger an AI Overview, with daily share-of-voice refreshes and source domain rankings that show which sites Google treats as authorities.
Plans start at $19 a month on Lite on its pricing page, with 15% off billed annually, and there’s no free ongoing tier, just a one-time visibility report.
Pros
- AI Overviews and AI Mode standard on every plan, from $19 a month
- Daily share-of-voice refreshes and source domain rankings
- Shows which queries in your category trigger an AI Overview
Cons
- No free ongoing tier, only a one-time report
- Claude is a paid add-on
Otterly.AI
Best for: a cheap, published-price first test
Otterly.AI is the cheapest published-price way in, and it puts AI Overviews on its lowest plan. Currently every plan tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini as paid add-ons. Lite is $29 a month, or $25 billed annually, for 15 search prompts, on its pricing page, with a 7-day trial and no card, and it suits a small team running its first test rather than a full programme.
Pros
- AI Overviews on the cheapest published plan here
- No sales call, and a 7-day trial with no card
- Published price you can read before you talk to anyone
Cons
- 15 prompts a month on Lite is a small sample
- Claude, AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons
AIclicks
Best for: tracking through the real Google interface, not the API
AIclicks takes a different approach: it queries the platforms through their real user interfaces, not their APIs, so it sees what a user actually sees. It covers 10+ engines, including Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Microsoft Copilot. Plans start at $59 a month on Starter for 30 prompts and 3 platforms, on its pricing page, rising to Pro at $189 for 150 prompts and 4 platforms and Business at $499 for 300 prompts and 6 platforms, with a 3-day trial.
AI Overviews is one of the platforms you pick within your tier’s allowance, so confirm your tier’s platform count covers the engines you need before you buy.
Pros
- Queries the real interfaces, so it sees what a user sees
- 10+ engines, including AI Overviews and AI Mode
- Sentiment and competitor presence alongside citations
Cons
- Prompt caps per tier, and the platform count is gated by tier (Starter is 3 platforms)
- AI Overviews isn’t called out on a specific tier; you spend a platform slot on it, so check before buying
AI Overviews tracking inside an SEO suite
These two put an AI Overviews tracker in an SEO suite, and both let you start for free.
Ahrefs
Best for: citation and source tracking with a free preview
Ahrefs brought its AI Overviews Tracker to its Brand Radar product, and it’s the one here with a genuine free preview. The free version, with no signup, shows your total AI Overview mention count, month-over-month trends, your top topics, and your top cited domains and pages. Ahrefs reports, from its own Brand Radar data, that it tracks 269.1 million AI Overviews prompts a month, which is a useful sense of scale but its own dashboard metric, not an independent study.
Paid Brand Radar adds daily tracking, competitor benchmarking and prompt-level gap analysis that shows queries rivals win that you don’t, and it’s an add-on to Ahrefs at $199 a month for one platform or $699 a month for all platforms.
Pros
- A real free preview with no signup
- Prompt-level gap analysis showing queries rivals win that you don’t
- Competitor benchmarking and citation tracking across topics
Cons
- Full tracking is an add-on at $199 a month for one platform or $699 for all platforms
- Does not track traditional rankings inside AI Overviews; it’s citation and mention focused
Seobility
Best for: seeing the full AI Overview answer text and source order
Seobility sits inside its Ranking Monitoring dashboard, and its strongest feature is the depth of what you see inside the AI answer. For each monitored keyword you see whether an AI Overview appears, the full text of the AI answer, every website cited as a source and the exact order they appear in, whether your site is cited and at what position, and whether your brand is mentioned and how it’s described, side by side with your classic rankings, daily.
The free Basic plan shows only whether an AI Overview appears, and the full answer text, cited sources and source ordering come with Premium, with a 14-day trial. Seobility doesn’t publish a USD price on its pricing page; its plans are listed in euros, so I can’t quote a USD figure here.
Pros
- The full AI answer text and the exact order of every cited source
- A free Basic tier and a 14-day Premium trial
- Sits next to your classic rank tracking
Cons
- Doesn’t publish a USD price (listed in euros only)
- The free Basic tier only shows whether an AI Overview appears, not the content
For enterprise brands
This one is the AI Overviews tracker built for enterprise retail and marketplace brands, inside a wider search-intelligence platform.
GrowByData
Best for: enterprise retail and marketplace brands
GrowByData folds AI Overviews monitoring into a broader search and AI visibility intelligence platform aimed at retailers, marketplaces, and the agencies and finance teams that serve them. You get AI Overviews tracking alongside classic SERP feature tracking, LLM brand intelligence, share of voice in AI search and competitive intelligence, in one enterprise platform.
It doesn’t publish standard pricing. It’s sales-led, so you book a call to find out what it costs.
Pros
- AI Overviews tracking inside a broader enterprise search-intelligence platform with competitive intelligence
- Built for retailers and marketplaces
- Combines classic SERP features and LLM brand intelligence in one view
Cons
- No published price, it’s sales-led
- The AI Overviews feature detail is thinner on the public page than the dedicated trackers
The chat assistants, not AI Overviews
Omnipresence
Best for: the chat assistants and the fix that follows (not AI Overviews)
Omnipresence is the honest exception here. It tracks exactly four assistants, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, and it does not track Google AI Overviews or AI Mode, so it’s on this list for the broader job rather than as an AI Overviews tracker. What it does is show whether each assistant recommends you or a competitor, the searches it ran before answering, the pages it read and which page won, and the pages it read but never cited, which are your closest wins.
It also keeps a few buyer questions untouched as controls (control prompts), so you can prove a lift came from your work and not a model update, and on Pro and up it hands the target and the method to the agent you already use, with a dated work log. Starter is $19, Pro $69 and Agency $239 a month, billed annually, with a 7-day Pro trial and no card.
Its MCP includes an AI Overview readiness audit that checks whether your pages are retrieval-ready to be cited in AI Overviews, a readiness step rather than a tracker.
Pros
- The searches behind each answer and the pages beating you, including pages read but never cited
- A rate that doesn’t swing on one answer, and proof the lift was yours
- No cap on tracked questions, and your agent runs the playbook from audit to shipped page
Cons
- Does not track AI Overviews or AI Mode, only the four chat assistants
- You bring your own OpenRouter or OpenAI key and pay the model cost at list price
- Top-choice data is partial
How to choose an AI Overviews tracker
Start with the engine. Some tools sold as AI visibility track only the chat assistants and don’t touch Google AI Overviews, so confirm the tool actually tracks the surface your buyers see. Then look at what you get inside the AI answer: a bare mention count, the cited sources, or the full answer text and the order of its sources.
The sample matters too, because AI Overviews are volatile, and a rate from one check per query isn’t a rate. Check whether the tool separates a citation from a passing mention, and look at the all-in price, because some trackers are an add-on on top of a base plan and most cap prompts per tier.
The rank-versus-citation point matters here. In our 10x AI Visibility Refresh study, the correlation between Google rank and AI citation was basically zero (Spearman rho 0.017, p = 0.914), and 41 cited pages had no Google impressions. A tool that only shows your classic ranking is telling you about a different race; the cited sources and the pages Google reads are the lever.
If your buyers ask on the chat assistants, four assistants may be enough, and a tool that tracks those plus gives you the fix is the better fit. If they search Google and see AI Overviews, pick a tool that tracks those, which is most of this list.
FAQ
Are AI Overviews the same as AI Mode?
AI Overviews are the AI-generated answers Google shows inside its search results for some queries. AI Mode is Google’s full-page conversational search mode, a separate surface you reach from the AI Mode tab. They share underlying models, but a tool that tracks one may not track the other, so check which surface a tracker actually covers.
Can Google Search Console track AI Overviews?
Google Search Console now has a Generative AI performance report covering AI Overviews and AI Mode, and it shows impressions only, how many times a link to your site appeared. It doesn’t show clicks, position, or which pages were cited, so it won’t give you a citation rate. Sites without enough generative AI impressions won’t see the report at all.
How do I get my site cited in AI Overviews?
Be the page that best answers the query, with a clear, sourced claim a model can lift, and make sure the page is retrieval-ready, with clean markup and text a crawler can parse. A readiness check on the page tells you whether there’s a passage the AI can cite and what to change. Then track whether you actually appear, because nothing else confirms it.
Most of this list tracks Google AI Overviews directly, and the right one turns on what you want to see inside the answer and what you pay all-in. If your buyers ask on the chat assistants instead, that’s a different surface, and a tool that tracks those four and hands you the fix is the better fit.
